This is a quaint little coffee shop off of the infamous Roman Road Market. It's simple and sweet. The staff is friendly and has all the basic elements to do some work on your own and meet up with a friend to catch up on life. And who doesn't love some free wifi?
Zealand definitely has their local regular visitors. Do try a flat white coffee here, it's rather good. -

I rarely come here despite living really close by. It must be because it doesn't seem worth it to spend money on sandwiches and coffee when I could just pop back home. At any rate, there are plenty of coffee places in and around the park with better scenery, however, this place is still a lovely little cafe to sit at to watch the world go by.
It can be very busy as it's the first nice cafe to have opened up along this stretch of Roman Road (Boulangerie further east is a new addition.) When the weather is bright you'll see lots of young local residents sitting at the outdoor tables, enjoying a coffee and a rollie. It's popular with the Chisenhale Art Gallery crowd so you can probably get a pretty good idea of the kind of customers who frequent this place :)
Coffee and food are fairly standard. I've never had a bad coffee here but it's never been amazing and it's pretty hard to get avocado on toast wrong. All in all I'd say this place is nice to spend some time at if you're in the area as this area can be rather scarce in cafés but I'd rather pop over to Victoria Park or its village and visit the numerous cafés there. -

A cute little corner coffee shop with a couple of street-side tables and a couple more inside. If you can get a table there: great, otherwise a good place to get a takeaway to drink along the canals or in Victoria park. Possibly the best coffee in the Mile End/Roman road area. And consistently good. When it's hot they make a mean, light iced coffee.
Food offering is simple, mainly due to space. There's sandwiches, open sandwiches and muesli. This is all served until 4pm. My favourite is the smashed av with salmon and chilli flakes that give quite a kick. If chilli is not your thing get this without. Their pressed sandwiches also look good with things like bacon, lettuce, avocado, pesto or aubergine, spiced chicken and yoghurt.
The interior is reminiscent of a Melbourne coffee shop with white New York subway style tiling on the counter bench, white walls and simple mixed wood furniture. All the menu is written up on the boards at the back and there is a nice selection of pastries and cakes at the till.
Also they have excellent mint and lime water in a help yourself station out of a large glass dispenser. It's the small things right..? -

I came here this morning while walking the mile journey to Magri's pet shop (see previous review), and was in serious need of food after the night I'd just had (see 2 previous reviews!).
My order took what felt like an eternity to arrive and I was getting slightly annoyed, but then, as I discovered, the wait was so worth it! Really great soft bread, and dreamy bacon in my bacon sandwich. Mmmmm.
Definitely coming back.
